Know Where You’re Going:                                                                                   What lies at the bottom of the ocean and shakes? …. A nervous wreck! We may joke about it, lie about it, or just ignore it, but all of us at some time in life, are afraid. Whenever we face change, our palms begin to sweat, our mouth goes dry and our knees shake. All of us are facing change, for Linda & I, we’re looking at the uncertainty of retirement. For DPC, you will be facing the unpredictability of a vacant pulpit. So for my last sermon series, I thought we’d look at “New Beginnings.” Because when one ministry ends, a new one begins. We will soon be setting out on a new road, trying to figure out what lies ahead, and hoping that we’re heading in the right direction.

Cross Purposes:                                                                                                           As we enter the season of Lent, we begin to be drawn towards the central tenant of the Christian faith … the cross. Jesus came to offer hope, forgiveness and new life, and the cross has become a symbol of Christianity symbolizing  hope, forgiveness and new life; at the same time, the cross is an instrument of an agonizing  death . As we look at the purpose of the cross, we notice an interesting play on words. When we say that something is at cross purposes, we mean that two things are at odds, they are, or seem to be working against each other. And it's this point of intersection or point of conflict that we are interested in.

Without Limits:                                                                                                        Jesus said “I came that [you] might have life, and have it abundantly.” Jn. 10:10. Unfortunately, many of us live lives that could never be described as abundant. I think that sometimes we focus on our limitations instead of our potential. We shouldn’t allow what we can’t do, determine what we can do! Moses said ‘I can’t talk to Pharaoh, I have a speech impediment.’ Gideon asked ‘How can I lead Israel against this huge army? I’m from a small insignificant family in a small insignificant town.’ ‘I’m too young’ Jeremiah said. They saw only their limitations, but God saw their possibilities.  Jesus offers to help  us reimagine our talents, and calls us to a live “Without Limits

GMT A Study In Time:                                                                                             Do you know what GMT is? It stands for Greenwhich Mean Time. that’s the time when the peoplke of England are mean to each other. Just kidding, Greenwhich Mean Time is the standard time referenced by clocks all over the world. Time rules our lives, we wear watches, set alarms, ask for wake up calls, post reminders mark our calendars all to make sure we get places on time.  For our series “GMT a study in time.”  stands for God’s Mean Time, and it’s the standard that we should use to  synchronize our lives to.                     k

Daring To Dream Again:                                                                                                                                    Ever get lost in the clouds, without leaving the ground? Discovered yourself a thousand miles away, without moving your feet? Or suddenly realized that everyone is looking at you expecting an answer and you have no idea what they were talking about?                Daydreams can be the result of sitting in a hot room after lunch on a bright sunny day, they can be the result of boredom, but they can also be caused by creativity. It’s when we dream, that we find creative solutions to the troubles we face.                  Unfortunately, for many of us, we’ve forgotten how to dream, for some life can become a nightmare, while others find themselves sleepwalking through life, without the energy to live out their purpose. So the question is, how can we learn to dream again?
